Miss Kati’s choreographic and musical influences are wide and varied. She draws from the classical influence of her youth in the Hungarian National Ballet, but mixes this with Ballanchine, Béjart and the demanding dexterity of the Bournonville school. Musically, her taste ranges from 16th-century French ballet to Kitaro and Mike Oldfield.
Miss Kati was invited to work with Citie Ballet (now Ballet Edmonton) after the success of her pas de deux Generations, and presented that work along with her pas de troix Corsaire. Her most recent commission for Citie Ballet was two group pieces set to the music of Edmonton poet Gerald St. Maur. Challenging her young dancers to water-themed poetic soundscapes, Miss Kati created Aquarium and The Sea. Last season, her Street Peformers and Serenade were both featured in Citie Ballet’s production Community Spirit. Other works include Bolero, Firebird, Paquita, Incantation and The Women of Egypt. Her large group work Mandolin Concerto was extremely successful, and has been followed by Bolero, Lakme, Buddha Bar, Air, and Coppelius’ House.
Miss Kati has been a senior choreographer for the Vaganova Dance Society’s performances, including Le Corsaire, Don Quixote, Tin Soldier, 1001 Nights, Beauty and the Beast and Etudes & Sylphides.
